TOWN SPORTS

TOWN Sports was founded in 2015 by four community-oriented moms from Farmington who just couldn't bring themselves to drive more than 10 minutes to buy (yet another) mouth guard, or rush home from work only to miss the two-hour Wednesday evening window to order custom apparel for (fill in the sport) season. Janie Tutewohl, Anne Olson, Karen Wisdorf, and Shannon Nielsen are residents of Farmington dedicated to the expansion of amenities and services, including retail offerings, that will make the lives of their neighbors better. TOWN Sports goal is to provide Farmington and its surrounding communities with a place to buy sporting equipment, apparel and fan wear – and to become not only your go-to place for your sporting needs, but also a place to obtain resources related to sporting activities in the community. The  commitment to the community extends to assisting youth sports associations, parent/teacher partnerships, school teams, community organizations and local businesses with their apparel and fundraising efforts. Since 2015, we have donated over $25,000 to youth, school and community organizations.

JANIE (NIELSEN) TUTEWOHL

Founder & Owner

Janie and her husband are lifelong residents in 55024 and parents of 2 boys (and Grandparents to 5 amazing kiddos) who were raised as Tiger football, baseball, hockey and track participants and went on to play college football at St. Olaf just down the road in Northfield. Janie owns residential and commercial real estate in Farmington and is founder of Janie's Home Team, Keller Williams Preferred Realty.  She has retail background since 2009, owning the Market on Oak Gift Shoppe and enjoys long walks on Third Street. Janie has a passion for forward thinking and future planning for Farmington and its residents and wants all of the shops to thrive, the businesses to grow and the residents to LIVE & LOVE their hometowns! 

ANNE (NIELSEN) OLSON

Founder & Owner

A corporate real real estate professional by day, Anne is a budding entrepreneur by night (and by night, we mean middle of the night). Anne grew up with a Farmington zip code, attended Rosemount Schools before heading to Drake University and then landing in the big city of Minneapolis for ten years before moving “back home”. After 5 years back in Farmington Anne and her family now reside in Edina.  Anne and her husband Dennis have two children (Clare & Peter) and are most likely to be found on the football or lacrosse fields – or maybe in one of the uncomfortable chairs at a band concert or choir performance. 

KAREN (NIELSEN) WISDORF

Founder, Owner, & General Manager

An insurance professional for over 35 years, Karen manages the day to day operations at TOWN Sports. Karen grew up with a Farmington zip code and attended Rosemount Schools. Karen and her husband Jeff have three children (McKenzie (Menifee, CA), Jarrod (Farmington, MN), & Audrey (Dundas, MN. Their children have been involved in softball, track, basketball, football, baseball, lacrosse, wrestling, tumbling and competitive cheer. Karen is an active bowler, loves country music, and will do anything to help out her neighbor – or the community. You can reach Karen at 612-759-0933.

SHANNON (WIDMAN) NIELSEN

Founder

Shannon is a born entrepreneur who found herself married into a like-minded family. Even though she is an outlaw (married to Janie, Anne and Karen’s youngest brother), she is an integral part of the founding of TOWN Sports. A graduate of Lakeville High School and the University of Minnesota, Shannon has been a Farmington resident since 1999. Shannon and her husband Erik have three children (Ellie, Charlie, and Sawyer).  Shannon is a licensed MN Realtor.
